Cleveland, Tennessee is a rapid growing community located in the foot hills of the Appalachian Mountains with a hometown feel. Although it looks small on the map it is the place to be! Whether you are looking for an adventure or just for a peaceful place to relax, there is something for everyone.

Downtown

Looking for a place overflowing with that southern hospitality, to take in some history or just having a good time? Look no further than downtown Cleveland! You will find Victorian style homes, antique stores, boutique shops, eighteenth-century churches, cafes and places to eat. Check out the Museum Center at 5ive Points, which is full of local history and The Spot, a quaint restaurant that was built before the 1900s. Throughout the year downtown offers various festivals and activities for all ages! Be sure not to miss out on all the fun!

Educational Activities

Rich in Native American past, there are plenty of activities for learning about the earliest inhabitants in Cleveland. Red Clay Historic Park was the last Cherokee Nation council grounds before the tribe was removed and forced along the Trail of Tears. Not only is it rich with history, but it’s great for walking trails with beautiful scenery and it offers areas for picnicking. Another place to check out is the Hair Conrad Cabin at Blythewood Farms. It is where the Cherokee Chief Tekahskeh built his cabin in the 1800s and it now serves as a farm that breeds show horses. These are just a few places, but there are plenty of other cultural activities to participate in and don’t forget the seasonal events.

Outdoor Action

Go for an adventure in the great outdoors! There is something for everyone. Enjoy the Hiwassee River State Park with a variety of things to do such as: whitewater rafting, canoeing, hiking, camping, fishing, boating and so much more! The Ocoee River, former host to the 1996 Olympic canoe and kayak events, offers class 1 to class 5 rapids, perfect for those who seek to be more adventurous. If you are the type that has the need for speed, then join the fun at Cleveland Speedway’s dirt track. In addition to all of this be sure to check out the great seasonal events such as the corn maze and more.

Farms and Wineries

Cleveland has two wineries, Morris Vineyard and Winery and Ocoee Winery. They both offer tours and have many great wines to choose from. The Apple Valley Orchard has a farmers market and bakery full of delicious apples and other related products. Don’t miss out on the Mayfield Dairy Farm, the largest in the Southeast, which also offers tours. See how milk and ice cream are made and packaged. At the end of your visit stop by the gift shop where you will find delicious treats for everyone.

Higher Education

Cleveland is home to Lee University, which is a 4 year private Christ-Centered Liberal Arts Campus. It offers a beautiful campus, many activities for the students and community, wonderful professors, great education and an overall splendid experience.

Cleveland is also the home to Cleveland State Community College, which is a great place whether you plan to transfer to a 4-year college/university or earn an associate’s degree and enter the workforce. It promises a friendly environment and staff with quality education at a reasonable cost.

Surrounding Cleveland

Want something to do outside of Cleveland but don’t want to travel too far? No problem! Cleveland is conveniently located about 40minutes away from Chattanooga. Visit the Tennessee Aquarium, which has two buildings, the Ocean Journey and the River Journey (largest freshwater aquarium in the world)! Not into the aquarium scene? Then experience museums, parks and shopping of all sorts, the Chattanooga Zoo or Lake Winniepesaukah Amusement Park. Want more? Travel to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge only 2 hours away, packed with restaurants, mini golf, go-carting, shopping and not forgetting Ripley’s Believe it or Not attractions and Dollywood’s Amusement and Water Park! Still not satisfied? Head over to where country music was born, Nashville only 3 hours away.
